TO MY FELLOW ROCKERS,
On behalf of Clare, Andrew, Conor, Matthew, and myself...
The month of October brings a fierce reminder to the kids and me about what it means to be alive - really, truly alive; and there has come to be no other day that makes us feel more alive than Mad Love Music Festival day. It reminds us that Dave's spirit is strong - that his commitment to living with purpose and passion and love and joy, is ever-lasting. It reminds us of the power of community - old friends, new friends, old friends connecting with new friends, neighbors, teachers, coaches, groupies, family - all coming together to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. And it is through this day, this spirit and this Mad Love community, that music then begins to offer its gifts.
On October 8, 2017, those gifts came in the form of over a thousand people singing, dancing, laughing, loving, and really truly living - all to support the Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers.
So with deep, deep gratitude in my heart - I want to thank everyone that made Mad Love Music Festival 2017 the fun and successful event that it was!
Mad Love to all of our sponsors and rockers - young (newborn!) and old (eighties!) near and far, in person and in spirit - your support, your energy, and your love have built this "epic experience." Thank you for celebrating life and believing in dreams. YOU make the Dave Jodka Scholarship for Future Rockers possible. This is what it is all about - please know how much that means to me.
Mad Love to our Mad Love band TOAST!!! What can I say? You are brave and talented and kind and grateful. We see that. You are setting a powerful example for other kids to work hard and follow their dreams. We are so proud of you and we can't wait to see much, much more of you!!
Mad Love to our incredible Mad Love Musicians - Ball in the House, Julie Rhodes, Adam Ezra Group, Aldous Collins Band, Dalton and the Sheriffs - you paused for autographs, you smiled for pictures, you encouraged on-stage dancing by kids AND adults - and you created some of the most magical musical moments. Ever. Your music will keep us connected forever.
Mad Love to our food and drink vendors - Galley (Hank's Clam Shack), The Sausage Guy, Montilio's, Nona's Homemade Ice Cream - your delicious food and drink kept us coming back long after we were full - and has left us grateful that we know where to find you. We're comin' at ya!
Mad Love to our volunteers - you showed up early and stayed late and worked together with love and warmth and humor. This day could not happen without you. And thank you to your families who stepped up at home while you stepped in at Mad Love.
Mad Love to our photographer Christina Ward of Christina Ward Photography - you capture in photos what we can't always put into words. And we treasure those moments always.
Mad Love to James Puzo - you allow us to spread our powerful message through our website. Thank you!
Mad Love to SSC - you again allowed us to transform your beautiful setting into the coolest rock venue on the South Shore!
And finally, Mad Love to the Mad Love Music Festival Committee - thank you for continuing to help heal my heart - through love and music and deep deep friendship.
I am honored and humbled to be a part of this Mad Love movement - let's spread it far and wide!!!
And keep your eyes open for the online merch store as well as other ways to celebrate Mad Love throughout the year.
Crazy mad love always,
