OVERNIGHT

2020-2022

OVERNIGHT

Overnight is the second scholarship band for Future Rockers. They sailed with us through the craziness that was 2020 and 2021, rehearsing virtually and performing outdoors. They were the sole performers at 2020’s Mad Love: Reimagined! and opened for an incredible crowd at Mad Love 2021. The group is busy writing, gigging, and recording. Check out their single Whittier!

TOAST

THE ORIGINAL MAD LOVE BAND: 2016 - 2020

Toast was the first scholarship band for Future Rockers. Formed after the first Mad Love Music Festival, this five piece rock band had several iterations, with graduates going on to Berklee, Brown, MassArt, the Tisch School at NYU, UCLA, and WPI. After the last two original members of Toast graduated, the band reformed into Overnight!

Coming from all corners of the South Shore, Toast convened at South Shore Conservatory weekly for rehearsals and coaching with guitar / bass / composition / and ensemble coach Erik Caldarone. There, Toast honed their skills as musicians and band members in the context of challenging, genre-spanning covers and original music selected by both the coach and individual members. After just months of exploring their collective musical identities and building strong, lasting friendships, Toast found a unified vision and sound that bent the boundaries of rock. They expertly created delicate tapestries of interwoven guitar parts and vocal harmonies only to fearlessly careen into a moment filled with cinematic raw energy and chest-filling volume.

Toast quickly made their way to the forefront of the local rock scene, helping build a renaissance of teen bands and a supportive, inclusive community of musicians. Over the years, they had countless gigs, playing everywhere from coffee houses to record stores to parade to clubs like The Middle East and, of course, an annual stop at Mad Love Music Festival.

They recorded multiple albums, including their summer 2021 release Thinking Right Now.

We are incredibly proud of everything Toast did during their time as the recipients of the scholarship for Future Rockers, and know it’s just the tip of the iceberg for all of them.

Keep up with Toast on Instagram and Facebook!
